About
Overlap is a fun quarterly show & tell night for animators and animation lovers to show work, share ideas and hang out.
We'll be at Nortons Digbeth with special guest Giovanna Ferarri from Cartoon Saloon. Animators will be show&telling their films, and as ever, Louis Hudson will bring costumed chaos as host.
Giovanna Ferrari is the writer and director of Cartoon Saloon's latest short film, Éiru. Set during the Iron Age, the film follows a girl who descends into the belly of the earth to discover why her warring clan's well has dried up.
Giovanna has 20 years experience as a storyboard artist, animator, writer and director. Starting at Cartoon Saloon in 2014, she is now their Head of Story, and is set to director a future feature with them.
Cartoon Saloon are an internationally renowned studio with FIVE Oscar nominations and a raft of awards to their name. Located in Kilkenny, Ireland, the studio produces beautiful shorts, feature films, and TV series.
Some of their best know feature films focus on ancient folklore (The Secret Of Kells, Song Of The Sea, and WolfWalkers). Éiru carries on that fine tradition.

Moho Animation Software is Cartoon Saloon's go-to animation software, so it's fitting Moho will be at the event! We'll be giving away a Moho license too! The latest version has caused a stir in the industry. It mixes nice drawing tools with rigging features at a really low price for a perpetual license. I'm genuinely excited by what it's offering.
